Strengthening Capacity Through the GRASP Project

ANOCED successfully completed the Grassroots Rural Afghan NGOs Strengthening Project (GRASP), implemented from November 2023 to May 2024, in collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). This transformative project focused on strengthening ANOCED’s institutional capacity, equipping staff with essential skills, and establishing robust policies and partnerships to enhance organizational efficiency and impact.

Key Achievements

  1. Capacity Building Workshops for Staff

    • Conducted comprehensive training on financial management, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, social entrepreneurship, and gender integration.
    • Staff reported improved capacity to effectively manage and implement projects, contributing to ANOCED’s operational excellence.
  2. Procurement and Installation of Equipment

    • Procured and installed office essentials, including computers, printers, and furniture, ensuring ANOCED is well-equipped for future growth.
  3. Policy Development and Implementation

    • Developed and implemented core policies, including financial management, procurement, IT, gender, and travel policies, fostering transparency and accountability.
  4. Strategic Planning and Partnership Development

    • Finalized a comprehensive strategic plan for ANOCED to guide future initiatives.
    • Initiated partnerships with local and international NGOs, paving the way for long-term collaboration and expanded outreach.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

  • Procurement Delays: Engaging multiple suppliers improved procurement efficiency, a lesson for future resource planning.
  • Partnership Development: Persistent and proactive engagement remains key to forming successful collaborations.
